Kurnool: The long-standing electrical issue at Kurnool Government General Hospital was resolved on Sunday with the installation of an 11 kV AB switch. Hospital Superintendent Dr. C. Prabhakar Reddy explained that the upgrade was necessary due to frequent power interruptions caused by the old system, which had been in use for 30 years. The previous setup, a high-tension line from a nearby 33 kV substation, led to power outages not only in the hospital but also in surrounding areas like Budhawarapet and the Collectorate building. The outdated equipment often required significant time to repair, creating disruptions. The replacement of the old switch with a new horizontal AB switch on Sunday caused a one-hour power interruption from 12 noon to 1 pm. This upgrade is expected to ensure a more reliable power supply for the hospital, enhancing its operational stability, he added.
