 Kurnool: Nobel laureate and child rights activist Kailash Satyarthi emphasised the collective responsibility to protect children’s rights and eliminate child labour during a workshop in Ongole on Thursday. He highlighted the importance of ensuring that every girl is safe, free, healthy, and educated.

Satyarthi praised the Prakasam collector for initiating the 'Bangaru Balyam' programme, aimed at protecting children's rights in the district. He urged everyone to work with commitment to achieve the programme’s goals, emphasising that education is vital for personal growth.

Social Welfare Minister Dr. Dola Sri Bala Veeranjaneya Swamy commended the District Collector’s efforts with the Bangaru Balyam programme, which integrates state initiatives to raise awareness about children's rights and support neglected boys and girls. The Minister announced the opening of a degree college in Singarayakonda under the Social Welfare department and mentioned the Anuragam programme, which will provide food and accommodation for orphaned children in hostels. District Collector Themeem Ansaria, SP A.R. Damodar, and other officials participated in the event.
