Visakhapatnam: The vibrant spirit of Kerala’s Onam festival came alive in Visakhapatnam as over 2,000 Malayalees gathered at the Kerala Kala Samithi on Sunday. The venue transformed into a slice of Kerala, featuring traditional flower carpets, a delectable Onam sadya, and cultural performances. The celebrations began with colorful pookkalam, intricate floral designs typical of Onam. Families dressed in traditional attire participated enthusiastically in various cultural activities, including tug of war and uriyadi, with the highlight being the Onam sadya—a lavish feast of 26 dishes served on plantain leaves. Dignitaries such as Kerala MLA Pramod Narayan and Visakhapatnam North MLA P Vishnu Kumar Raju attended the event.
