 Kakinada: West Godavari district collector Chadalavada Nagarani said that an anti-sea erosion wall would be constructed with a length of one kilometre across the sea near Pedamynavani Lanka village of Narasapuram mandal in the district.

She convened a meeting at Bhimavaram with the bidders and the officials through a Zoom conference on Saturday. She said that the Pedamynavani Lanka village was adopted by Union finance minister Nirmala Sitharaman, and the people appealed to the minister to control the sea erosion as the sea surfaced into the village. She said that Nirmala Sitharaman consulted with Deloitte India and was taking steps to sort out the problem.

The collector said that tenders had been invited in June, and now the company would take up the project under CSR funds. She said that after completing one year of supervision by the company, the state irrigation department would take over the maintenance from the company. She added that a steering committee had been formed for the project. West Godavari district collector is the chairperson, and water resources department Eluru district superintendent engineer, AP Pollution Control Board executive engineer, Narasapuram RDO, Deloitte India representative, and a representative from IIT Chennai are the members, and Bhimavaram drainage executive engineer is the member convenor for the project. She said that the tenders would be opened on August 19 and confirmed it.

Water resources department SE Ch. Deva Prakash, EE P. Subrahmanyeswara Rao, DEE G. Vinod Chand, Narasapuram RDO B. Achuth Ambarish, and others were present.
