Smart India Hackathon concludes at IIT Tirupati

Tirupati: The two-day software edition of the Smart India Hackathon 2024, hosted by the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Tirupati, concluded on Thursday. Starting on December 11, the event featured 22 teams, each consisting of six students and two mentors, competing in a 36-hour coding marathon.

The teams worked on real-world problem statements provided by the Ministry of AYUSH, focusing on improving efficiency and addressing challenges in the AYUSH sector. IIT Tirupati was one of the 51 nodal centers selected by the Ministry of Education to host the event.
The hackathon saw participants developing innovative solutions to bridge traditional practices with modern technological requirements. Problem statements included creating a secure portal to streamline AYUSH startup registrations, designing an interactive educational platform showcasing medicinal plants, automating the preparation of annual reports for institutions, and building a system to track and visualize innovation within educational institutions. The solutions aimed to foster data-driven decision-making and improve processes within the AYUSH sector and the education system.
Among the winners was Team Kode Crafts, which secured victory for their solution to create a Comprehensive AYUSH Startup Registration Portal. Led by Kartik, the team developed a secure and efficient platform to streamline the registration process for AYUSH startups, enhancing transparency and accessibility in the sector.
Another notable achievement came from the joint winners for the problem statement on Innovation Excellence Indicators. Team Sahvrindam, led by Parnika Patil, created a system to track and visualize innovation metrics such as research outputs, patents, and grants, enabling institutions to make data-driven decisions. Team Carbon Daters, led by Kaushal Vyas, offered a complementary solution to provide actionable insights into institutional research performance, supporting efforts to enhance innovation outcomes.
For the problem statement focused on creating a Virtual Herbal Garden, Team Stack Squad, led by C.B. Susmitha, emerged as the winner. Their solution is an interactive and immersive platform that showcases medicinal plants used in traditional healthcare systems such as Ayurveda, Yoga, Siddha, Unani, and Homeopathy. The platform offers users an educational and engaging experience, combining modern technology with India’s rich traditional knowledge.
Team Pragati Mitra, led by Swetha R., won for their development of an annual report portal designed to integrate and customize departmental reports in educational institutions. Their solution simplifies the process of report preparation, providing a user-friendly system to enhance administrative efficiency and organization.
The Smart India Hackathon 2024 at IIT Tirupati concluded with a valedictory function. Professor K.N. Satyanarayana, Director of IIT Tirupati, and Chief Guest Professor R.V. Kumar, Vice Chancellor of SVIMS Tirupati, graced the occasion. Rakesh Kumar Gunju, Assistant Director at AICTE, also attended to honor the participants. Each of the four winning teams was awarded a cash prize of ₹1 Lakh for their contributions.
