Hyderabad: Telangana Food Safety department officials inspected the JNTU Sultanpur in Sangareddy district and found 15 kgs maida flour infested with black beetles.

Around 25 kgs of fungal infested vegetables were also identified apart from unhygienic conditions with rodents and excessive presence of rat excreta in the storeroom.

Kitchen, wash and dining areas were also found to be in unhygienic conditions, officials said, adding that food handlers were found without head caps, aprons and medical records and the RO water plant found to be not working.

Officials said a notice has been issued to the management seeking an explanation over unhygienic conditions. Further action will be taken accordingly.

For the last few weeks, food safety officials are cracking the whip on hotels and other eateries for failing to ignore food safety standards and posing risk to the people. Notices were also issued to the errant management of a few eateries for failing to maintain hygienic conditions and standards.
